September Favorite Things

September is usually a wonderful month all of the world since it is a collar month around the equinox.  Here in the midwest, it is the last hurrah before long winters, hanging on to the last of the sun.  Below are some of my favorite things in September that give me joy.  Once you slow down to notice, you see God's treasures and surprises are everywhere.
Monarch season

Best beach glass day ever
"I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness--secret riches.
I will do this so you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, the one who calls you by name." Isaiah 43:3

warm September sun and beach
"May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us" Ps.67:1

First colors
"May the nations be glad and sig for joy"

"for you rul the peoples with equity and guide the nations of the earth."

empty beaches

solitary walks

no one in sight

and prehistoric plant "eternity" rings

Great harvest
"the land yields its harvest"

Blue Sky Asters
"God, our God, blesses us.  May God bless us still, so that all the ends of the earth will fear him."  Ps. 67

 Why pray?  "First, God.  God is the subject of life.  God is foundational for living.  If we don't have a sense of the primacy of God, we will never get it right, get life right, get our lives right.  Not God at the margins; not God as an option; not God on the weekends.  God at center and circumference; God first and last. Creative Prayer Workshop #3 Paint Your Heart Out! Painting your emotions

  We had a wonderful workshop with Allison leading us in painting our emotions.  We started with putting a color on paper of what a description of anger, joy, peace and love would look like to each of us in color. The next paintings were guided layers of emotions, perhaps a lie we believed, and the truth that we know, all represented in colors and layers.  Some of the pictures from the evening are below.
