The Maker's Space

Welcome to the Maker’s Space.   You have chosen to carve out some time in your life to slow down and notice what God might be saying to you, using art to pray with your hands.   This is not a craft night, although we will be making something.   It is different than an art class, that we are doing something that you might not have done before for a reason.   And that is to get your brain out of a left-brain control mode and intro a right brain creative and sensitive mode.   This will help you hear what God might be saying to you and notice something that you haven’t noticed before. We are now going to focus on our breath, to start to leave all that we have brought in with us at the door, so we can meet with God and create with Him. 3 minutes Breathe in: “Many are the plans in a man’s heart,” Breathe out:   “But it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”   Proverbs 19:21 "Give up the illusion of being in control of your life.   These high school students come to FVCC after school for fellowship, dinner, Bible study and a life studies segment throughout the school year.  The Maker's Space gave a session on slowing down and praying for others without words.  After coming to the session after a group game,  the students were asked to take their pulse for 15 seconds.  Next, we had a 3 minute Breath prayer, inhaling with the Scripture, " The eternal God is your refuge," and exhaling with  "and underneath are the everlasting arms."   Then they took their pulse again and all found that they had lower numbers.  Deep breathing and breath prayer is a tool for slowing down and concentrating on breath helps us get out of our left brain planning control mode, into a right brain and more creative mode. The students were then asked to divide their papers into 6 sections, thinking of 6 people to pray for, 1 of them have to be someone that is someone they don't like, and identify each section wit

  MS Oct. 2023 Welcome to The Maker’s Space.   This is not a place just for those who call themselves artists, this is a place where we all become artists in the Presence of the Great Artist, Jesus. We are all creative, and when we use our creativity to make the world a better place, we are partnering and getting to know Jesus in His creative person.   But as importantly, you are making space to use art to slow down and learn to listen to Him.   He can tell us things through art that we might miss otherwise.   He can encourage us, tell us things about ourselves that he sees in us, comfort us, inspire us and give us ideas on how to proceed to tell others about Him and His Kingdom.   These next 2 hours are a gift to yourself to allow yourself to listen and hear from God.   Anytime we think about God and turn our attention to Him, we are worshipping Him…As said by Marva Dawn, “Worship is a Royal Waste of Time” Supplies: Prayer journal, or plain paper, ink pen and colored pencils or marker
