Transformation with ART WORSHIP

The women of St. Sabina's Catholic Church and the women of Purpose of Design collaborated on Saturday, April 18th, 2015, to host an event for girls in the neighborhood of 79th and Racine in Chicago.  The event for girls 14-25 yrs., was called Transformation--"Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but the woman who fears the Lord is to be praised."  The event introduced them to the women of St. Sabina's Church and the possibilities of lives transformed.

There were several seminars focused on inner and outer beauty, and a session on art worship to develop the skill of listening to God through art, since He is the only one capable of true transformation and "heart" surgery for inner beauty.  The girls focused on a promise of God and created an art piece of doodling while listening and focusing on God.  The tools of doodling, being still enough to listen, and the experience of creating something with the Creator of the Universe is something that they can take with them and hopefully continue as they try and get to know God.  By asking His direction, they were able to see how God can use art to speak to us in deep ways that sometimes don't include words but fill our souls with His peace.  I promised I would post their art and I hope that they check it out here on this blog... I reprint the following for them....

We entered into our time of art worship with Jesus Calling {April 2}

"I have promised to meet all your needs according to My glorious riches.  Your deepest, most constant need is for My Peace.  I have planted Peace in the garden of your heart, where I live, but there are weeds growing there too: pride, worry, selfishness, unbelief.  I am the Gardener, and I am working to rid your heart of those weeds.  I do My work in various ways.  When you sit quietly with Me, I shine the Light of My Presence directly into your heart.  In this heavenly Light, Peace grows abundantly and weeds shrivel up.  I also send trials into your life.  When you trust Me in the midst of trouble, Peace flourishes and weeds die away.  Thank Me for troublesome situations; the Peace they can produce far outweighs the trials you endure."  Jesus Calling by Sarah Young

"And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious dishes in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:19

"For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all." 2Corinthians 4:17
